This is the first test drive for The Last Resort. You can use one of the handy prompts or make up your own.
Prompts
Prompt #1
There's a new drug being passed through the seedy end of the town which gives many bipedal species the temporary ability to shapeshift into someone else of their species. Needless to say it's very dangerous. Are you working on a cure? Currently trying it out to look hot at the bar? Trying to weed out the dealers?
Prompt #2
When a cavespider attacks, usually someone doesn't lose much in the way of memories. They might not even notice what's gone. But your character has been swarmed with them and only remembers half of anything. Try to figure out some things about yourself again by talking to your friends and hope that your memories will be recovered with the reminders. Try not to take advantage of someone and lie to someone with the problem, though. Or do it, you need all the advantages you can get.
Prompt #3
A notable and extremely wealthy alien ambassador has just arrived. He loves luxury but is extremely difficult to please. He is also said to be a collector of rare artefacts and some suspect that he may be here to receive stolen goods. Are you staff complaining about his behavior? A scientist keeping a close eye on the museum collections while the ambassador around? A thief planning a heist with a friend in order to sell the goods to the ambassador?
Prompt #4
Having a drink at Pugsy's bar, because someone has to try the exotic booze. Be careful, some of it's made with blood.
[Wander decides that maybe a trip to the convenience store should wait, now that he's spotted someone looking like they're having a hard time with carrying luggage.]
'Scuse me, sir? I noticed that you're havin' a bit of trouble with carryin' these suitcases; mind if I help?
[Grif's protective instincts, that he would deny are there because he's too much of a rebel for that kind of stuff, flare up and he unceremoniously throws the piece of luggage he was holding onto the carousal before going to catch the other end of the package.]
[Wander nods and slowly backs up towards the carousal]
I'm sure he must be carryin' some important things in here. Might be full of some business papers, or expensive jewelry, or statues made from the rarest of all stones, or fancy clothes, or a camera to take a buncha pictures for his elderly parents back home, or souvenirs from his earlier trips, or...
[He almost tells the little guy not to be a weenie because that is the advice he'd offer Simmons. But Wander is not Simmons and thankfully Grif remembers his manners briefly.]
Just a quick look. Ten seconds max, and as long as we don't touch anything, no one will know, right?
[The moment Grif finishes his first sentence, Wander quickly but carefully opens the box. A small cylindrical container falls out, but Wander is too busy admiring the contents to notice]
Uh huh, lots of other small boxes an' some lil' statues wrapped up all nice-like in paper...[He has not looked up once while talking]
[Grif looks over his shoulder, considering.]</small<
Yeah, that's kinda what I was expecting. Don't touch 'em, just in case.
[Although things always shift in luggage. But they are in the lobby.]
[Wander looks like he's having the time of his life looking through a stranger's luggage. He picks one object wrapped in newspaper that's sitting on top of everything else and lifts it up for Grif to see.]
Wouldja like to do the honor of lookin' what's in here?
Oh, right. You got a good idea. [He puts the object back into the bag and zips it closed.] Now why don't we get started on this? Big pieces of luggage first?
[Wander stands up straightly and talks in a voice a bit louder than his usual volume]
Yessir! We are totally, one hundred percent, dedicated to gettin' all this luggage ONTO that carousal to our dear guest's room! [He points to the carousal and towards the ceiling as he speaks, then walks over to a large suitcase with rollers and pushes it toward Grif.]
[He's good, Grif will give him that. Grif grabs the suitcase, piling it onto the carousal with a few others. It's backbreaking effort, for him at least, but he's doing it.
[Wander stops to catch his breath as Grif lifts the suitcase onto the carousal. When he sees that Grif has safely put it away, he runs back to find another large one with wheels and repeats the process]
[It doesn't take much time for Grif to form a solid base, and he stacks the rest of the luggage in a rather hurried manner. He gives a quick glance around the lobby to see if he missed anything, doesn't noticed the cylinder that rolled away, and starts pushing the carousel toward the elevator.

'Scuse me, sir? I noticed that you're havin' a bit of trouble with carryin' these suitcases; mind if I help?
no subject
I dunno dude. They're pretty heavy.
no subject
No problem! I'll jus' help with carryin' some of the lighter things an' holdin' doors for ya.
[He walks over to the smallest piece of luggage he can find and prepares to pick it up]
no subject
As a warning, I'm pretty sure this guy packed nothing but bricks, so don't throw your back out or anything like that.
no subject
Oh, huh. Musta misjudged how heavy that was. Lemme try that again.
[He tries to pick up the same package again, only this time with as much strength as he can muster. He's only able to lift it about an inch]
Yeah, got it! [He puts on a smile as his arms shake under the weight]
no subject
[Grif's protective instincts, that he would deny are there because he's too much of a rebel for that kind of stuff, flare up and he unceremoniously throws the piece of luggage he was holding onto the carousal before going to catch the other end of the package.]
I said be careful!
no subject
I guess this fine guest musta been packin' for a long vacation. These all belong to one person?
no subject
Here, let's get it over the luggage thingy.
[If they do it together it probably won't be as bad. Where is Lopez when you need him?]
no subject
I'm sure he must be carryin' some important things in here. Might be full of some business papers, or expensive jewelry, or statues made from the rarest of all stones, or fancy clothes, or a camera to take a buncha pictures for his elderly parents back home, or souvenirs from his earlier trips, or...
no subject
Doesn't change the fact that these bags are heavy as dicks.
no subject
Then he must be carryin' some amazing things! Ya think he's gonna show them off when he's here?
[He looks at the package]Whatever's in here's gotta be real important.
no subject
[Pause]
Kinda makes you want to open it and see what it is.
no subject
[He stops smiling] No, we shouldn't do this; it's just rude. [He looks at the package again] But I just gotta know what's in here.
no subject
Just a quick look. Ten seconds max, and as long as we don't touch anything, no one will know, right?
no subject
Uh huh, lots of other small boxes an' some lil' statues wrapped up all nice-like in paper...[He has not looked up once while talking]

no subject
Wouldja like to do the honor of lookin' what's in here?
no subject
Not here. Let's just get the rest of the bags on this thing and then we can do it in a place where we're not gonna get caught.
But yeah, I'll do the honors.
no subject
Oh, right. You got a good idea. [He puts the object back into the bag and zips it closed.] Now why don't we get started on this? Big pieces of luggage first?
no subject
[He says in an overly clear voice. No suspicious activity over here. Why would you ever suspect such a thing?]
no subject
Yessir! We are totally, one hundred percent, dedicated to gettin' all this luggage ONTO that carousal to our dear guest's room! [He points to the carousal and towards the ceiling as he speaks, then walks over to a large suitcase with rollers and pushes it toward Grif.]
no subject
Nothing like a little motivation.]

The perfect crime.]
We are criminal masterminds
So...[He holds one arm with another behind his back and faces Grif] which room are we 'sposed to be takin' these to?
