OOC: Break and Revamp

As you may have noticed, we've hit a little bit of a stumble in progressing the game's story. The mod team has been grateful for all the play it has received. What it has lacked in the activity of larger games, it made up for in players with genuinely good natures and excellent imaginations. Everyone did wonders for making everyone else feel comfortable, and in an internet based hobby where it's difficult to read what intentions are in text finding that sort of comfort in a community can be difficult.
We've really appreciated everything everyone has done. Thank you for being there and being supportive of everything from our silly plots based off game mods to odd news broadcasts. This was a labor of love for the mods, from writers to coders and even for app judging. If anyone got any enjoyment from their time here, it's been worth the effort.
Revamp
We are considering revamping the game rather than closing it permenantly, because we do like to play with everyone here. We're also open to any other recommended changes.
Things we'd do and keep:
- No longer seasonal
- More plots inspired by game mods.
- More temple exploration.
- More protection missions for the village.
- Assignments to get rid of dangerous spawners.
- Eventually adding "character respawn", basically getting rid of character death (if you don't mind your character coming back to life in the middle of the woods with basically none of their possessions or clothes).
- Getting rid of invasive species.
- Reworking the criminal system so that they have more free reign, but not total.
- More blurring the lines between magic and science.
- More ability use outside of the village.
- More activity rewards (special weapons, armors, powers, familiars, etc).
Things we'll be focusing less on:
- Less political discussion.
- Less dependent on sci-fi.
- Less of a serious approach and more of an action adventure / comedy presence.
- News casts would become more documentaries about the characters.
- The slice of life aspect (we wanted to give people the option to play somewhere and not be involved in plots).
Originally the seasonal endgame was that the Expansionist/Stasist conference would be pulled from the planet and it would be placed under quarantine, meaning that for the off season the plot was going to revolve around other, previously discussed changes. Rather than the pre-packaged ending, now the Resort will, when the quarantine begins, offer to send the existing imports to the destination of their choice (or, alternately, they can choose to stay in this universe and leave with the village wide evacuation). The resort will be kind enough to give those with pets the means to care for them and the option to take them with them to their homes if they can be suitably fed.
We figure this will be good for one of two things: either taking CRAU info elsewhere, if anyone developed anything significant enough, or will make it easier to return people later after the game is redone, shifting the focus of all the info pages. But, first, we'd like to see who would be interested in still playing here after it's revamped (I would predict it would take about a month or a month or two to rebuild it). However if more players don't think they can rebuild motivation, I'd understand that, too. It was a problem with a number of players.
Either way, there will be an IC farewell post so that characters can talk and they can hopefully one day be reunited.

Does this mean Lindir gets to take home a tribble? not sure Elrond will be pleased.In addition, if you would like additional input on anything from gameplay to structure to whatever else, I'm willing to help out.
