How's My Driving?

This is a strictly optional HMD post. This may seem wordy, but it's good to set a positive standard and a healthy atmosphere from the beginning. It will always be encouraged for players to:
- Ask questions about how a character is played...
- A player might have good reasons for making the choices they make. There might be aspects of the canon that you're unfamiliar with or game events that made them deviate from the path that they would usually take. There could be circumstances that would make a character make different decisions. They might not know how a real job would work because they're not a professional paleobotanist or their canon has them do a job a different way. Please give them a chance to explain or at least better consider where there might be a problem.
- Keep any OOC issues out of concrit...
- This is strictly about in game activity. That's it. OOC discomfort should be discussed between players or with mods, not as a reflection of one's ability to play their character. Also don't bring up OOC issues as part of your concerns except mentioning real life might be affecting availability.
- Make sure the crit is constructive and not destructive...
- Concrit can be very destructive, and can be used to discourage a player from playing altogether. That's not something we want. But we want players to feel comfortable enough with communicating with each other that they can take crit (and also have that crit countered).
Destructive Examples: "I've been thinking about how you play Dr. Butterball and he's nothing like this in canon. In fact, when you [LINK HERE] had him turn Sue into a billy goat that went against everything he believes in. And [LINK HERE] he tells Joe all about his master plan when he would normally never do that. Then you went [LINK HERE] and had him open a store across from my character's store and they sold the exact same thing, and that's completely OOC. What gives? You're giving our cast a bad name."
"Your character was a jerk to mine. Your character would never ever have been a jerk to mine in canon so I'm very disappointed in you as a player. I was looking forward to that CR and you let me down."
Constructive Examples: "I was wondering about a few things Dr. Butterball did. Like turning Sue into a billy goat and revealing his master plan to Joe. I can get you links if you need them. I was a little surprised because I'm familiar with the canon and didn't expect that. Did something happen in game or did I miss a scene?"
"I'm having a lot of trouble working around our current CR. I was wondering if we could change its direction or have them ignore each other because the threads aren't what I want to do." - Remember we're all in this together...
- We're not going to ban anyone for not listening to an HMD or disagreeing with you. We will strike against you if you break rules but this is just a safe place for people to work out kinks and make story and interaction move more smoothly.
Please give each character their own comment. Form:
Game Related!
Additionally, we would like your opinions on these issues:
- Activity Check
- We're considering changing the AC from 24 comments to two AC samples. An AC sample would be a post, a log, or a thread with ten comments from your character. We want to give people the ability to backtag during slow periods of time, but also keep up activity.
- Adding a wanted characters section to the game ads
- This is pretty common practice, but there's also the option of letting players comment to the advertisment itself with wanted characters. So we're checking here to see what you would prefer.

Concerns: Iiii am playing a GTA character in a place where he has to behave himself. I've done it before and things went okay.
That's basically it. Any questions or anything I'm down with. I can dig up samples of a lot of things; he had a pretty mundane social life back in Liberty City (bowling, pool, restaurants) so I at least have a lot of domestic stuff to go off of. The fact he's in with the Blood Pack I've not really gotten to make much use of.
He comes from after the revenge ending of GTA IV.

Concerns: It's been a while since I've had Kay in a game where he's been doing things, and I've been playing him for five years now so I worry about settling into anything wrong. His voice has always come pretty easily and I think I make him act sufficiently Kay!like, but I do need to rewatch his canon and brush up on him I think.
Otherwise I'm pretty okay with him, still. I need new icons like a mofo.

I love your Kay voice, so I don't have anything useful to say. Except that I love your Kay voice.

Concerns: I think I might have jumped the gun in apping him. He's one of my favorite characters and my only OC (I like having one person not prone to violence and not even particularly good at it), but it's very hard to dodge myself between shared CR.
And yeah, I mention accents a lot- most of the characters I've played have English as a second language or very slight accents and that was my focus (that and German) when I took language courses. So I apologize for that.

Concerns: He's from a rather peculiar canon point (fifth season) and I'm not always entirely confident in my ability to both keep him like himself but also incorporate the rather major character changes he goes through over the series canon. (Two seasons as an antagonist, then two seasons on the protag's side but not entire trusted, but by the fifth season he's the right hand man of one of the protags and has learned a modicum of tact...and even employs it occasionally.)
In short, he's supposed to be a bit of a jerkface still (always) but by season five he isn't nearly as big a jerkface as he used to be. But I worry about the balance of making him jerkface enough but not too jerkface.

Concerns: Activity. That's basically it. I've really fallen down with Bertie this last month. (I've never played three characters at once, and it shows in my lack of ability to maintain sufficient activity with all three.)

Concerns: New muse, so just general voice concerns. He is currently not being as obviously dickish as he is in the movie, but he's currently in the "convincing people that he's a nice guy" phase as he plans his artifact smuggling activities. Also, there is no one here at the moment with whom he has a professional rivalry (and incentive to needle) like he does with Dr. Jones.

Concerns: I'm new to journal RP, so most of my concerns are following standard etiquette and practicing basic journal RP skills. I haven't gotten Wander caught up in any adventures yet, though it's easier to do that now he has some CR.

I'm mostly focusing on replying to posts right now to practice, but once I plan to get more involved with mod plots once I get the hang of it.

Concerns: I'm playing a movie character taken from a book universe. I'm always worried about her being IC and if her voice comes across accurately. Aside from that, I am always open to concrit about how approachable or active the character is.

Concerns: I am struggling to have him reach out for new CR, because he's never really been the type to do that and a lot of the time he just doesn't have much to say (hello awkward silences and grunts). I'm hoping to get him talking to people more soon though!

Also tagging in on people that can carry the thread helps. There's not been a lot of opportunities for subjects that Boone would be interested in to come up.

Concerns: I guess just that I've played him so long, sometimes complacency can be the enemy? I know I just got here but just wanted to toss this in to say that if anyone ever has any feedback, I love hearing it. :) Good or bad!
