OOC: Double Plot Mixer

OOC: Double Plot Mixer

Both of these plots will be available for IC responses when the news post comes out. This is just a plotting post.

The Voyage Home
   M12 D22 - M12 D24 (May 3 - May 11)

With the swamp adventure finished, it's time for Jeffers to make good on his promise. Anyone who participated can return to their worlds with one or two guests. There are just a few catches.
  • Anyone who leaves is subject to the laws of that universe. If they can perform magic in their native one, then they won't be able to in a world that has no magic. If another universe somehow doesn't adhere to the laws of nuclear physics, then no mini-nukes. The exception is that anything acquired on Quadratus will work in any universe. So if your character has bought items from a vendor, found them in chests, or stole them from a witch's hut they will work in any setting..
  • You are allowed to influence your character's timeline and create an alternate timeline. They can enter their world any time after they left for Quadratus. You can use this story to observe following events or to change them. Later characters will have the option of apping from the in-game generated AU or ignoring it completely. If you decide to change anything, you need a character to do the thread with you so it's recorded for other people in game to read back on.
  • Laws of Quadratus don't apply. You can cheat, steal, and smuggle to your heart's content. You might ruin personal opinions if your companions don't like what you're doing.
  • Your location will be constantly recorded. This is for your character's own safety. If they wind up in an emergency situation and need a quick lift out, a travel agent will be sent for them (with the option to be NPCed or played by a player). But if this happens your character's visit will be considered over even if their time isn't spent.
  • This visit will last three in game days, but two weeks back in their world. Time will have barely passed at all by the time your character returns.
  • Additional Clarification: You can go to more than one person's world if invited. But if you bail from your trip home, your trip is cut short, and you can't make up the lost time later.

The New Desert Temple
   M12 D29 (May 24th - May 26th)

There's a temple in the painted desert above a stronghold. Explorers want to visit it, but there's unfortunately a giant sandworm bearing down on it. That means when it is investigated, it will only be a matter of hours before the monster reaches them. There's also no way to teleport in or out. Explorers (or looters) will have to flee on foot or vehicle.

After the visiting home plot, a more thorough description of the temple and finds will be posted.

If anyone wanted to go see Gallifrey I could probably think of an excuse for Narvin to take someone. Alternatively, since Narvin's reason for being on Quadratus is to look for technology from other universes that might help Gallifrey, he could be pretty easily convinced to go visit someone else's universe.

And if anyone wants to thread out a Travel Agent interaction (taking people there, bringing back in an emergency, or anything else) I can volunteer Niles for it.

Una is available for trips to her crazy branch(es) of the Multiverse. (Emilia?) Also as a Travel Agent, she's available to help fish people out of problems.

(Also: hi, I'm back!)

Grainne might not ask anyone specifically, but she wouldn't say no if someone wanted to come along with her to late 20th century London.

Okay, for people not aware of GTA fandom, I'm going to give you a good run down of what's available in Liberty City (and the state of his world if it's looked into). I'm up for taking up to four people, based on either them being friends or promises that they can help his cousin secure his livelihood for after Niko leaves for good by giving him awesome help while they're here. Network message will be handwaved because I spent all my word calories this week. But comment here if you want to work something out.

Some of the cities are the same but the structure of those cities, the names of landmarks, and the street layouts are considerably different. Most of the city names are references to our counterparts; Liberty City is like New York, Los Santos is like Los Angeles, Alderney is like New Jersey, Vice City is like Miami, and Las Venturas is like Las Vegas. The states are a little different, too, with Liberty State, Alderney State, North Yankton (presumed to be based off North Dakota), and San Andreas (California). Florida has been mentioned by name but this may turn out to be a script error. Liberty City is split into Dukes (Queens), Bohan (Bronx), and Algonquin (Manhattan). Niko has lived on all three of these islands and in Alderney.

The two islands he will be restricting his visit to are Algonquin and Dukes.

Highlights of Algonquin: There are ritzy clubs and shows. Star Junction is the center of much of the city's public activity, and part of its public image. To the north, in Hollond (Brooklin) there are gangs that will attack you if you wield a weapon in public in their territory. It is well advised not to do so, as public fights bring the attention of the very ruthless police force. But there are plenty of places to enjoy yourself even if this is the more expensive part of town. Jerkov's and Club Liberty. To the south is the Statue of Happiness on Happiness Island. A helicopter tour can be taken there, or alternately a helicopter can be stolen and a flyby done.

Highlights of Dukes: The area of Dukes that Niko will be sticking around in the most is Hove Beach. Similarly to Holland, there are Albanian gangs and the Petrovich Bratva, so it's unwise to go around with a weapon out. A few of the diners are frequented by career criminals. That will not stop Niko from eating at them. Comrade's Bar and the 69th Street Diner are two places in the area, and Niko will probably want to take someone to the Memory Lanes bowling alley. He will also go by the Homebrew Cafe to visit his friend Little Jacob and to play pool. This is Yardie territory so be nice.

Also there's iFruit (iPhone), WEAZEL NEWS (FOX News), and randome chains like Burgershot and Cluckin' Bell that can be found on either island. The shitty president is President Lawton and there's still a lot of paranoid anti-terrorist laws in place. Thomas Stubbs is running for congress and milking this.

Newspapers, if people look back far enough, will have stories about things Niko has done (if you played GTA IV) but won't cite Niko specifically. The only thing they will mention of him is the story about his girlfriend being shot down at a wedding, and that Bellic fled the scene. There is also porn of him on the internet.

P.S. Almost every pedestrian you meet is some kind of jerk, and there are basically no kids out in public. Enjoy that.

Agent K is from just after MiB II rather than MiB3. Zed is still in charge, but Oh is immediately subordinate to him. Jay will be on an undercover mission and not present because I'm no good at NPCing him.

MiB headquarters is a large white room (stadium/hangar sized) with sliding silver doors, a glass room where rare confiscated devices are kept, and So there are normal computers, but also large round holoscreens occasionally used. People can walk up the walls and on the ceiling.

There are small offices as well as a long line of operatives at desks.

There's an intake and customs center where all people entering Earthspace have to be cleared. Anyone that Agent K brings in, human or not, will have to wait in that line. They also can't leave MiB headquarters without signing an agreement that they won't disrupt the flow of normal Earth society and disturb the native inhabitants. If they don't look human, they'll need a way to disguise themselves.

Once they agree to this, Kay is willing to take them anywhere in New York. He will probably be focusing on solving Linda's dome problem, so anyone that could be a help with that would be welcome. He'll also be wanting to bring in spawner technology for the MiB to research, so he will be taking that when he returns.
