OOC: More Rule Changes

OOC: More Rule Changes

Here is a brief rundown of changes that will hopefully make things both more interesting and more tolerable. We will continue to be as accomodating as possible, as we want this game experience to be as enjoyable as possible. We can't make everyone happy 100% of the time, but we are still trying to improve.

Apping from a player-made alternate universe....

More leniency will be allowed for this now, and hopefully it will turn out well. The application description under "Alternate Universes and Previous Games" has been changed to say the following. If any of the language is confusing, please let us know and we will do our best to clarify:

Special History: Go into depth describing additional or differing history. This section is not for canon AUs or alternate versions of an original character that don't include previous game canon, as those can be covered by the form above. First, state which of the below you're apping for, and then go into the description.
  • Previous Game Canon: For canon characters, list the canon point they come in on, and the major events and CR they had throughout the course of the game. For original characters, list the point in their history that they come in on and CR they had throughout the course of the game.

  • Player-Made AUs: For apping from a player made AU, please first list whether the changes are minor or major. If a character comes from a fan-made negaverse, then the major events of that universe need to be listed as well as changes in the character's CR or history that might have affected their personality. If the changes are relatively minor, mention where the change occurs. Examples of histories we will consider are extended canons that reach beyond the end of the series or the writers scope of a single character, alternate universes in a different setting such as Cold War era Earth or a medieval fantasy land, or small changes that allow the character to live at the end of their canon. Keep in mind these histories will be scrutinized, along with the character sample threads.

That said, we would like to create options for changing your results of your home universe through the course of the game. This is still in its expiremental phases, but opportunities will come up where someone can take someone with them and "fix" something that's happening, for better or for worse. When someone crosses through the teleporter in these events, the rules of Blackstaff will no longer apply and the character can act as they please. Consequences would only lie in the reactions of their CR and in the judgement of player-characters (or the public if those actions are exposed by other player characters).

As this is an alternate universe, any characters that app in are not obligated to acknowledge changes or the behavior of any alternate selves.

Mod created plots...

Our original policy was to offer out plots, but it's become obvious in recent months that many players end up feeling pressured by these offers in combination with real life (many of our players have come across hard times, busy schedules, or illness). This was never our intention, and though we would like to make all players feel equally included we will now make a policy of waiting until players approach us.

THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO REGULARLY SCHEDULED EVENTS but rather to over-arching plot and in game world findings. There are a number of discoveries/adventure ideas that we still have so you can mention whether you'd want it to be domestic, action, dramatic, or comedy. We have tried to give plots that would allow characters to handle them any way they wish but if something specific is desired we would be happy to oblige.

And of course, player-made plots are always encouraged.
