OOC: The Market

OOC: The Market

Merchants

While it's easy to pay for most of the items sold by generic NPC farmers and craftsmen, the interactive vendors are a little different. We can't really expect characters to keep track of how much they're paid exactly, but generally follow this idea. Some items will show up again later but they won't always be the same.

Sales can be assumed and people can just show off/try out their new items, but if you want a quick (especially plot relevant) establishment thread with a vendor, we can play it. But if you don't thread out either the sale or (preferably) a post-purchase interaction with another player character, then you can't own it.

◍○○○○ Cheap Item

You can buy it for the price of a meal out.

◍◍◍○○ Moderately Priced Item

It will last you a while, but it might take a hunk out of your paycheck.

◍◍◍◍◍ Expensive Item

To buy this, your character might have had to save up for a while, and might be hurting to buy more things after. Almost exclusive to characters with jobs.

This months selection:

Jack Jeebs
◍○○○○ Nail Polish/Varnish

Perfect gifts for the holiday season. They vary from sorts that strobe different colors to having the images of galaxies swirling on them.

◍○○○○ Swine Madness

A cologne that smells like bacon for those that want to woo a carnivore.

◍○○○○ Marked Territory

A perfume that smells like ferret stink for the lady that wants to lure out the stoat in the one she woos.

◍◍◍○○ Decorative Sweaters

Sweaters that are treated so that they actually keep the wearer uniformly warm, for both animals and humaniform creatures. Unfortunately most of them look like this but they are effective.

◍◍◍◍◍ A Quadratus diamond and emerald necklace

He won't say who his supplier is, but it's really really pretty.

Harry Mudd
◍◍◍○○ A memory storage crystal

Worried about being bitten by a spider in the caves? Harry has brought memory storage crystals. Someone can record a days worth of memories on it by holding it in their palm for three minutes. Holding it again can do the same. Letting it fall int the wrong hands is a terrible idea.

◍◍◍○○ Snow boots

Just general boots that will let you trudge around in the snow without your feet getting wet where it's melty.

◍◍◍○○ Holographic display

A monitor you lay flat that produces a holographic realistic display of the person talking. Compatible with network posting.

Xur
◍○○○○ Fisher's Delight

A fishing pole with a magnetic line that doesn't get tangled on things. Can reel in fish and whatever you catch the optional gravity hook on.

◍○○○○ Wolf Bait

Having trouble taming a Quadratus animal? This will do it in one feeding. They're good for protection out in the wilderness.

◍◍◍○○ Sonic charge

Something to scare off Keese if you go deep into the mines. It won't do much to discourage Skeletons or Creepers, though. It will mildly disorient spiders, but only briefly. Looks like large button on a box.

◍◍◍○○ Radar Compass

A compass that not only shows the direction back to an origin point that you set, but also shows potential threats that could be around by red highlights around the edge (indicating that a hostile animal is in that direction).

Documentary

While it appears that the documentary team isn't here this time, that's because they're relying heavily on hidden cameras. Part of the market is reserved especially for a culturally mixed holiday festival, one that everyone is allowed to take part in. Everything from typical Earth type holidays that most people are familiar with, to wildly alien holidays. Traditional foods are being baked in a closed, tented area. There is even the much maligned mistletoe.

Most importantly, though, there will be a moment of winter magic. A group of children making a snowman who don't want to roll up a whole new ball of snow put a native pumpkin (more cold resistant than our pumpkins) on its head and it starts to move around. Effectively creating a snow golem.

They end up so excited that they make several, and they'll wander around freely. They won't harm anyone or fight back if attacked. The worst they'll do is trail snow behind them (and seem only affected by very extreme heat). If permitted to go as far as the gates, they'll attack any hostile animals they see with snowballs. Of course, this does very little damage to them, but they throw them hard enough that they make it difficult for an enemy to advance.

Walter's possibly going to be buying something from Xur. I'm assuming the lab people have been paid for at least one month of work. He might ask to expense it out, if possible...

a thread with Mudd for me?

Can Emilia try to buy the memory crystal and also threaten him a little because apparently that's what she does now?
