OOC: The Market

OOC: The Market

Merchants

While it's easy to pay for most of the items sold by generic NPC farmers and craftsmen, the interactive vendors are a little different. We can't really expect characters to keep track of how much they're paid exactly, but generally follow this idea. Some items will show up again later but they won't always be the same.

Sales can be assumed and people can just show off/try out their new items, but if you want a quick (especially plot relevant) establishment thread with a vendor, we can play it. But if you don't thread out either the sale or post-purchase interaction with another player character, then you can't own it.

◍○○○○ Cheap Item

You can buy it for the price of a meal out.

◍◍◍○○ Moderately Priced Item

It will last you a while, but it might take a hunk out of your paycheck.

◍◍◍◍◍ Expensive Item

To buy this, your character might have had to save up for a while, and might be hurting to buy more things after. Almost exclusive to characters with jobs.

This months selection:

Jack Jeebs
◍◍◍○○ Velvet Elvis Picture

Signed by his Elvis during his stint performing on Earth, so it's actually incredibly rare. The resale value on this item is impressive in most universes where Elvis actually lived, in any case.

◍○○○○ Spawner Codes for Generic Snack Foods

Some of them work really well, and some of them taste a little like cardboard. If you don't care too much, it's a great buy. If you do care you might end up throwing it back at him.

◍○○○○ Imitation Diamond Jewelry

Made in the ancient Quadratus style, but way more affordable than the real thing and doesn't require messing with the Orions. It probably won't even turn your skin green. Probably. (It might.)

◍◍◍◍◍ Security Filter Access

Jeebs got a hot tip from someone on the inside; if someone needs security filter access for three months, he can give it to them. The access code will only last for three months, though. Only available/offered to people that have some ties with the big three criminal organizations. Loophole? If you know someone from them, they can buy it for you.

◍◍◍◍◍ Information

Want a juicy detail from Jack Jeebs? Pay well and he'll do his best get it for you.

Harry Mudd
◍○○○○ A Shape-Shifting punching bag

Excellent for taking out one's agressions but don't last as long as people would hope.

◍◍◍○○ Venus Drug

The venus drug is a pill native to his universe that is capable of enhancing one's most attractive qualities. It's based in encouraging one's own genuine self confidence as a means to make them more attractive. Only available/offered to people that have ties with the big three criminal organizations.

◍◍◍○○ Magic Beans

They're actually the seeds for a large, alien carnivorous plant capable of rudimentary intelligence. Care instructions are very strict: feed the animal no red meat (only fish or fowl), keep in a moderately sized pot, read to it at least once a week to keep it familiar and fond of the sound of your voice. If you follow these instructions you will have a loyal plant that gives you a fangy smile when you get home and not a horror that grows to the size of a house and might lunge at passerbys.

◍◍◍◍◍ Speeder

Harry is reselling this repossessed speeder for comparitively cheap. No loans or dealerships required.

Xûr
◍○○○○ Infinite Arrows

A locally produced object. With the use of a small spawner built into this quiver, the user has an infinite supply of arrows. Expansion packs for different types of arrows aren't available. It's also lined in Quadratus rabbit's fur. Enjoy another local vender's barbecue of the meat.

◍◍◍○○ Temporary Forcefield Generator

Need to be surrounded by a protective bubbled that will keep enemies out temporarily? Use this. Controlled access capable: you can let your friends in instead of locking them out to deal with threats.

◍◍◍○○ Secondhand Monster-Killer

This gun was once owned by a man who didn't shoot quick enough, and it's slow to load. The bullets are poisonous to anything that requires oxygen, and if you shoot it once it's going to start slowing down. It's helpful against larger enemies, so long as you draw fast enough.

◍◍◍◍◍ Bone-Thrasher Rifle

A gun that is particularly effective against the undead, including skeletons. It can take them down with one bullet. Best for people that may be required to confront skeletons regularly. Contains power of Vitis, Dis, and Dynamis. It stands out in his collection as a white gun.

◍◍◍◍◍ Leather Armor

Enchanted leather armor that allows for quicker healing and fast movement. Nearly weightless. Full of Vitis and also done in the fashion of warlock armor in his native universe (helmet optional).

Documentary

As part 1 of their documentary, the reporters have set up a filming booth and have three questions for everyone. No one is going to see each other's responses until a later broadcast after the market. You would basically treat this as a network post when you respond to the thread started and answer the questions. It would be later you can respond to the broadcasts as if your character has already made their response and is now watching them all for the first time.

The questions for this market:
  1. How do you feel about the environment?

  2. What are the standards of animal treatment in your world, ranging from pets to wildlife?

  3. Do you feel that network memes are abusive and make dangerous and misspelled assumptions about animals?
